I’ve always had an affinity for the behemoth wise elders of Hollywood’s beginnings. The really good ones are getting harder to find, but that just makes me try harder to find them.
In the sprit of the modern resurgence of “small batch” brands, and the industrial artifacts reclamation movement, I have begun a project to pay homage to this legendary hardware from Hollywood’s past. How? By bringing pieces from this storied past into the present.
The vintage lights exude an unparalleled sense of aesthetics and rich history. My job now is to curate and convert these units into modern home electrics. To carefully refurbish and restore for the true connoisseur, in limited quantities and with fine attention to detail.
How did all of this come together? Well, after 30 years as a commercial photographer, I’ve finally got my 1st hobby!
Cyclorama & Scoop lights can be purchased at Old Hollywood Light Company
The lights were usually made between the 1920’s and 1940’s, each is a one-of-a-kind original, complete with vintage stand or tripod. They exude the sort of patina that can’t be matched by mass-produced reproductions.
All Cyclorama & Scoops are rewired with standard Edison socket and bulb to be used as a standing lamp. Completely refurbished, while still keeping its vintage look intact.
