The Cramps

RIP Lux Interior

There was only one Lux Interior. The front man and founding member of The Cramps stands out as one the most colorful characters I’ve worked with. His band was a fixture on the early New York punk scene, and today you can hear Lux’s influence in everyone from The White Stripes to My Bloody Valentine. With hundreds of shots available, Rockabilly magazine chose this as their cover image for the definitive Lux Interior retrospective issue.

I discovered this image when I was revisiting the original shoot back in 2012 for my book “Cramp Slash & Burn”,  before that it had never seen the light of day. I have no idea why this frame wasn’t chosen back in the day because it is defiantly my favorite right now. Sure others were used for Press & Publicity – but somehow this frame was passed over, go figure.
